"Dogs want to please their owners; cats want to please themselves"
G-Rock and Asia (And practically all cats as well) have their own sayings and meanings.
We as humans have to try to figure out what they are saying. So this is my attempt at doing so.
I tried to put myself in their place when they are "talking" to me and the following terms are
what I came up with. Please feel free to send us your own "CAT" meanings so that we humans
can communicate better with our cats.
1. AppliCATion - The process of licking our paws and then applying them to your face.
(G-Rock likes to do this to me).
2. CATacombs - Crawling under beds, dressers, tables, etc usually to hide from kids or to hide
from our owners after doing #3 below. 2. Doing the same thing when we know you are about to
give us medicine or a bath.

CATapult - Crouching forward on our back legs and then springing
forward, usually from one
table to another. Anything in the way gets knocked over. We especially like to do this at 4am in the
morning while you are sleeping. And when you come out mad to see what's going on, refer to #5,
definition 2.
4. CATastrophe - The result of doing # 3. 2. The following also qualifies as CATastrophies: Asia and the
brownie batter, Asia and the plate of food, G-Rock and the closet shelf, Asia& G-Rock and the two tables
they wrecked.
5. CATatonic - The look we cats have when you take our picture. 2. The look we give you when you catch
us doing something wrong.
6. CATcall - What we cats say to each other when we want each other and when we want you humans
to feed us. Also the names we call you humans when you do something we don't like. (Lucky for us you
humans can't understand cat talk) 2. Names I call G-Rock&Asia when they leave their toys in the middle
of the floor and I step on them.
7. CATer - What we cats want you humans to do to us. We train you to feed us when we want you to
pet us when we want, and leave us alone when we want. Never mind what you want.
8. CATfish - What we cats do to try to get at the fish in your aquarium. 2. Going after something with
our front paws that gets stuck under the refrigerator or anything that we can't crawl under. Should
it get inside one of your shoes, too bad. Our claws and teeth just have to have it.
9. CATlike - Of those things we cats like. Scratching behind our ears, feeding us on time, and letting
us sleep all day so we can be up all night (See part of definition #3) are some things we like.
10. CATnap - A 10 minute nap followed by 2 hours of running around the house like freakin crazy.
We may repeat this process several times for your amusement. Just don't try to nap during this 2 hour
time period because we won't let you.
11. CATnip - Touch us the wrong way and you will get a nip from our teeth. Do it again and you will
get claws. And if you still insist on this you have an unpleasant surprise coming!!!
12. CAT o' nine tails - 9 of us cats in a room together. 2. The lies we "tell" you humans when
you catch us doing something wrong. In this case we become a " cat o' nine TALES!!! "
13. CATsup - Instead of we cats saying "What's up man?" like you humans do, we say "Cats up".
2. What you humans say when you hear us moving around at 3am. Definition #3 fits into this as well.
14. CATskills - Everything we do takes "cat skills". From bugging you early in the morning to throwing
cat litter all over the floor so you can clean it up to knocking over everything on your tables to
catching mice and leaving you to clean them up is a display of our cat skills.
(Ed asks: Hey G-Rock, does your fall in the toilet qualify as cat skills?)
15. CATty - You think you humans get catty when mad? Make us cats mad and you will find out the
true meaning of catty.
16. EduCATion - The process of training you humans to do our bidding. (See #7 above). 2. The process
of we cats learning what to do to make you humans mad. Chewing cords, swatting anything that
dangles down, climbing up the curtains are some things we know makes you mad.
17. SCATter - After doing a CATapult which leads to a CATastrophe, we then have to SCATter.
18. VaCATion - We cats stay on permanent vacation. Can't you tell by the way we just lay around
and do nothing all day?
