(Love) Flight To The Stars

(LOVE) FLIGHT TO THE STARS

ABOUT THIS POEM:

You know, sometimes inspiration is a funny thing. It strikes you when

you least expect it and in the most unlikeliest places. This poem came to

me when I was cleaning up a church one night. (Maybe God had his hand

in this) I had to stop working every few minutes to write down a verse or a

thought. By the end of the night I had a rough draft of this poem.

I have this thing for stars. I just love to try to incorporate them into almost all

my poetry. (See the poems "Equal To" and "Lifetimes of Love") But this poem

is also a fantasy I have in which I am flying hand in hand with the one I love on

a love flight through the stars.

As she takes my hand and leads me to the outside

Into the night sky we stare at the stars with eyes so wide

Now my imagination has its full play

As inside my mind we are lifted up, up and away

Free from the Earth's limiting bond

Free to fly throughout the stars, on and on and on

for tonight our creator has woven a magnificent celestial tapestry

Especially designed for you and me

Yes honey, the stars are ours tonight

As two hearts take to a grand flight

It's more than love that we feel tonight

As we take our hearts to wonderful new heights

Marvelous, Dazzling, Exciting sights so new

As hand in hand, from star to star we fly to

Among the stars we glide so free

Floating through the universe from galaxy to galaxy

A loving tap from you ends my dream

Back from our journey above the moonbeams

But my fantasy is once again revived

When I turn my head and gaze into your shining eyes
